Daiy Study! 09/27/14

I met with my cousins today, we chatted and had beer. I went home a bit tipsy. Anyway, didn't do art today, just a late night Hogarth study before bed.

Daily Study! 09/26/14

Late post! I did 2 studies today, because I skipped yesterday's. I was very busy and as a result very tired, I didn't have enough energy to do the daily study. So today I did a still life and landscape/structure study, 30mins each.

And I did some speedpaintings during lunch break. Used alchemy and photoshop. No topic, just random paintings.

Daily Study! 09/23/14

Hi! Today's study is a landscape! 1hr. For the foliage, I used the brushes created by a colleague of mine and whom I consider a mentor, awesome artist, JB Casacop. Check it out. Kagubatan-Custom-Brush-Pack =)

Daily Study 09/21/14

Hi! Late night post. I was busy the whole day helping my old man with construction and renovation work. I did a lot of heavy work and this sure gonna hurt tomorrow. Anyway here is today's study before bed. Today's a vehicle painting study. Did a tank because I felt ambitious. It is harder than I thought. I should've started with more simple like a car or something. I spent 50 mins, can't do much more because it's already late at night and I need some rest now.

Daily Study 09/20/14

Didn't do much art stuff today. I just took a break and spent some quality time with family. I just did a few sketches/anatomy studies and some random doodles. I used ball point pen,. I want to train my self to be more economic with strokes and avoid erasures. I also want to sharpen my observational and formulaic drawing skills.

Now these drawings obviously sucks, but hopefully I get better in time. I think I have to actually do this everyday. Yeah, I definitely need to do this everyday atleast 20mins a day.

Daily Study 09/19/14

Today was a gloomy friday. Had a storm here. It was raining hard and the wind was chilly, I almost want to stay on bed and sleep all day. Anyway, today's study is a still life painting. 45 mins.

And I did a speed painting challenge. The topic is Persian Guards

Daily Study! 09/18/09

Late update! I did a 1 hour study of structure earlier while listening to a Bob Ross mix video to get me motivated. Focused more on the shapes and colors. It's important to nail down those two things first rather than detailing. Though  I didn't quite get it 100% right,  I'm happy with it. :)

And todays speed paint! The topic I chose was Scarfed Brawler. Didn't plan and thought much of it, I just let loose and let it flow.

Daily Studies! 09/17/2014

Hi! Today I'm starting my journal of documenting my daily studies and progress. Everyday before bed, or before work, I'll spend atleast an hour to paint from reference, either from photograph or life. My goal is to improve my fundamental skills by understanding shapes, lights, colors, values, and textures and also by this I'll expand my visual library. Each day corresponds to a different subject, in this way I can cover more grounds and improve them simultaneously. Aside from this I'll now also post my speedpaints daily, instead of dumping them at once. In daily studies, there's no imagination or thinking, all of that are gonna be applied in the daily speedpaint. The schedule I'll follow is below.

Today is Wednesday so I did a portrait. It was kinda hard to find good portrait references without worrying about violating copyright laws or need for asking permission, so I opted for movie stills. Easier to find and they already have the cinematic lighting I aim to stock in my visual library. I chose to do Ra's al Ghul (Liam Neeson) of Batman Begins.

Needs more work on the likeness. I could have spend more time to it but decided to leave it like that . For now I'll limit my self to one hour for these studies and post whatever I finish even if it's crap. I gotta spare time to do other things like work, and family time.

Also speedpaints and personal sketches I've done over the week.
